INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM in English - Traduzca en español

The INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM helps to prepare individuals who do not speak English to reach their academic goals.

The program consists of four levels . Each level includes grammar, composition, reading, and conversation. The Fall and Spring Semesters last 16 weeks (20 hours per week). The Summer Semester lasts 10 weeks (32 hours per week). Classes are available Monday - Friday in the morning and evening, depending on the level of the individual. Students can take a full level (4 courses) or half of the level (2 courses) per semester.

The fee for a full level is $864.00 per semester for legal residents or citizens who are living within the school district, and $1,512.00 for legal residents or citizens who live outside the school district. For individuals who are non-residents and/or non-citizens, the fee is $1,752.00 per semester. These individuals are required to have a student visa to study in this country. Financial aid and scholarships are available for citizens and legal residents. Financial aid may help individuals pay half or the full amount of the tuition and books. Student aid is determined by the individual's yearly income, number of people in the family, etc. In addition, student loans are also available for those who do not qualify for free financial aid. Please see your counselor regarding financial aid available in our college and/or contact our office at 713/718-7203 or 713/718-7204.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO ENROLL IN THE INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM 

For Information concerning the INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM you may call 713/718-7203 or 713/718-7204 or go to 6815 Rustic, Angela V. Morales building, Office 1036 . If you decide to enroll in this program, please follow these steps.

  1. Fill out an Application for Admission and Admission Status Determination form. You may pick up these forms in Room 103 in the Felix Morales Building , located at 6815 Rustic. After completing these forms, return them to room 103 . For more information please call 713/ 718-7044.

  2. Take the CELSA exam. This test is given Wednesday at 9:00AM & 5:00PM in Room 309 . There is a $25 dollar testing fee. For more information about the test, please call 713/718-7041.
    Before you take CELSA test come to room 1036 to get an Authorization Form.

    Documents to bring with you:
    1. Social Security Card
    2. Photo I.D.
    3. Immigration documents (student visa, passport, resident card, etc.) *

  3. The following two days you may call the Arts & Languages Department to get your test results at 713/718-7203 or 713/718-7204.

  4. Go to Angela V. Morales office 1036 , to get the register form. (Yellow form).

    Documents to bring with you:
    1. Social Security Card

  5. Fill out an application for Financial Aid . You may pick up this form in Room 109 in the Felix Morales Building , located at 6815 Rustic (713/718-7030). After completing this form, return it to Room 109 . In this office you can ask for help to fill out this application. You must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident for at least one year to qualify.

    Documents to bring with you:
    1. Income Tax form (If you are a dependent of your parents or any other person, you must bring in their income tax form, too.)
    2. Driver's License
    3. Permanent Resident card (If you are not a citizen).
    4. Immigration documents (student visa, passport, etc.)
    5. Social Security Card
