OVERVIEW
In the area of natural health and the healing arts, massage therapy is
one of the fastest growing sectors. Massage Therapists are health care
practitioners who provide skilled manipulation of the body, soft tissue,
or connective tissue through scientific manipulation, touching, rubbing,
pressing or otherwise moving body tissues. The distinguishing characteristics
of a person entering this career include a deep commitment to the service
of others, willingness to provide quality health care through teamwork,
and an avid interest in the day to day-to-day operations of a modern health
care facility.
PREREQUISITE/ ENROLLMENT
A high school diploma or GED+ Assessment Testing + must attend an information
session.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students are eligible
to take the Texas Department of State Health Services Massage Therapy
Examination.
WHAT JOBS CAN I GET?
Self employed or fitness centers, physicians’ offices, wellness
centers, spa, hair salon.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN
I EARN?
Can earn between $15–$45 per hour.
WHEN DO I ATTEND CLASSES?
Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays or weekdays Monday through
Thursday.
