TESTING

Placement Testing

A variety of assessment instruments are used to determine placement into programs and courses at HCCS. Students who meet minimum passing standards as required by TASP may still be tested in order to determine placement in programs or courses.

THEA Testing

The Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) is a state-mandated program designed to ensure that students have the academic skills necessary to perform effectively in college-level work. In order to comply with THEA rules, the Houston Community College System requires that all students be tested to determine their basic skill level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
